Government is the largest procurer of construction and marine work. When our members begin their apprenticeship, it is through government registration and oversight. Their safety at work is determined by government regulations. If they were to get hurt on the job, their insurance coverage is determined by the government.
Medical coverage is determined by government. Their pensions are regulated by government. As long as there is a Minister of Labour, as long as they have their nose in our business, we have to have our nose in theirs.
