Workplace Alternative Trades Training (WATT) is a hands-on pre-apprenticeship program that equips individuals with the practical skills and experience needed for a successful career in the trades. The program offers real-world training in essential trade skills and safety practices, helping participants smoothly transition into apprenticeship roles. WATT is designed to bridge the gap between formal education and real-world employment, ensuring participants are job-ready and confident in their new trades.

Scholarships And Grants​

Founders’ Scholarship Competition

An adult program, to be used solely by IBEW members. It is NOT for the children of members.

IBEW First District Office Scholarship

Made available in partnership with Union Savings, AIL, TD Insurance, Meloche Monnex, and MWG Apparel.

Ron Callaghn Memorial Scholarship

Open to all children and grandchildren of local 230 members.

Apprenticeship Incentive Grant

Application form #EMP5391 for the Federal Apprenticeship Incentive Grant for Appliance Repair, Motor Winder, Electronic Technician and Electrical apprentices working at completing their first and second year of apprenticeship.

Apprenticeship Completion Grant

he Apprenticeship Completion Grant form #EMP5482 is a $2,000 taxable grant provided by the Federal Government for Apprentices who have obtained their Journeyman status in a “Red Seal” Inter-provincial Trade (same as noted above).

Training Tax Credit

The Provincial Apprenticeship Training Tax Credit should be filed by Apprentices completing their Third and/or Fourth year of their Apprenticeship Technical Training.
