The annual Vancouver Island Building Trades (VIBT) skip trip to Mount Washington started in 2015, and for the last five years, Local 230 has hitched a ride on the Sheet Metal Workers, Plumbers and Pipefitter’s metaphorical ski bus and each year our IBEW participation continues to grow with this event. Each year, the turnout is better than the last, bringing over 200 people to join in on the skiing/snowboarding fun.
Participants receive raffle prizes, a fantastic BBQ lunch grilled by our coordinators, and an afternoon of networking with follow trades union members throughout the Island. We continue to hear that the ski trip is a winter highlight for many members and their families – all leaving with great memories.
A huge thank you to the coordinators Jason Pedersen from Sheet Metal Workers Local 276, Jim Noon from Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 324, and Cory McGregor from IBEW Local 230 for organizing this successful event each year, and thank you to all those who attended.
